The American Automobile Association (AAA) was founded in 1902 and is a privately held not-for-profit federation of motor clubs throughout North America with over 60 million members.
The organization provides members with a wide range of motor vehicle and travel-related services. AAA has begun to open storefronts across the Northeast to make it easier for its members to access services that require in-personal visits.
Scully Construction was engaged by the shopping plaza owner and AAA to renovate an existing space. After securing permits, the first step was to demo the existing space and build-out the space to meet the AAA design requirements.
During the demolition we uncovered several existing conditions that did not meet municipal building codes. The bathroom plumbing was causing leaks in the space below. We re-routed piping and installed pressurized toilets with shut-off valves to separate the two spaces. Working closely with the property owner, tenant and local building department, we were able to correct these conditions and bring the space up to current code while finishing the build-out project on-time. The AAA client was very happy to get their new location open without delay.
