The Pace University Women’s Justice Center (WJC) provides free legal services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse. The Center is located on the White Plains campus of Pace University, in the original gymnasium of Good Counsel College which occupied the land since 1923.

The success of the Pace Women’s Justice Center required additional meeting and office space. Scully Construction was engaged to turn storage and unused space in the WJC building into meeting rooms and office space for legal staff to serve the community.
The former gymnasium building features lots of space above the main floor to run electrical wiring and HVAC equipment, with very little space in the basement crawlspace. The Engineers were able to design the HVAC system into the tight basement space and identify structural improvements to the main office floor to accommodate more working space and staff. Working during the summer months while staff were working remotely, Scully was able to add structural support and construct new meeting and office rooms that increased the usable space for WJC by 30%. Projects like these, for clients like these, are always extra rewarding!
