Transforming former convent into housing for people with autism.
July 1, 2023
Working with ArchCare in Tuckahoe, NY
ArchCare, the healthcare system of the Archdiocese of New York hired Scully Construction, LLC to manage the renovation of a long-vacant former convent on the grounds of Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Our Lady Church in Tuchahoe, NY. The building, to be known as ArchCare’s St. Frances Cabrini Apartments, will help address the critical lack of safe, affordable housing where people with autism can live productive and fulfilling lives in the community.
The former convent building was built in the early 1900s and has been vacant for over a decade. The goal was to retain as much of the architectural integrity of the original building while bringing it in line with modern-day building codes and amenities. As Construction Managers, the Scully team works directly with the ArchCare team and SLCE Architects, LLP, De Nardis Engineering, LLC, OLA Consulting Engineers, PC, and PS&S Integrated Design and Structural Engineering. This is one of those projects that makes everyone feel.
